"I feel that at last I can paint as wild and free as I want to." - Jerry Wray
The last series Jerry Wray began in her long and prolific art career, the pieces in Wild and Free are the product of a joyful, gestural process, yet still follow the rules for good composition and color.
To create these pieces, Jerry would first wet the paper, then pour acrylic paint straight from the bottle, using her whole arm to make the gesture. She let the paint run together, then used a scraper to consolidate certain areas and build good shapes filled with rhythmic lines.
